Baha'i
The Baha'is of Calderdale are a local
part of the national and worldwide Baha'i Faith
community. They come from different backgrounds
and countries, sharing a faith inspiring them to
work peacefully together to try to achieve the
spiritual and practical unity of the beautifully
diverse human family.
The Baha’i Faith itself is an independent world
religion with millions of followers around the
globe. Its Founder is called Baha’u'llah (the
‘Glory of God’). He taught all the world’s major
religions come from one source and share the
same spiritual principles of love, fellowship
and peace; that there is one God, and that
religion evolves through progressive stages to
aid humanity’s social and spiritual growth.
Baha’is work to promote equality between women
and men, to remove extremes of poverty and
wealth, and to end prejudices of race and creed.
They look for harmony between science and
religion, as two different ways of investigating
the world and our place in it.

Baha’is believe in the importance of
education for all, including the right and
responsibility of everyone to investigate truth,
and what to believe, for themselves. Local
Baha’i activities include open-to-all devotional
gatherings, classes for children, study circles,
and Holy Day celebrations.'
